ENGAGEMENT

from the ground up

LISTEN or READ

In this episode our host, Jennifer O’Keefe, travels to Second Story Women’s Centre in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for a conversation with Liz McCurdy, the centre’s Administrative and Volunteer Support Coordinator.

Jenn and Liz discuss accessing funding for the centre (and the related challenges), barriers for rural women’s participation in public life, creating community, and specific projects and programs led by the centre.

In our second episode Jenn travels to the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre in Antigonish, Nova Scotia for a conversation with Lucille Harper, the centre’s Executive Director.

Lucille and Jenn discuss the organization’s history within the region, challenges related to rural women’s access to public services, women’s diverse roles in community-building, and what women are already doing in the region to support each other.
